I go by the name Electrichorologist on the Timex Forum and Lathefool on the Seiko/Citizen and TimeZone Forums. I do most of my posting on the Timex Forum. It may be because of the unspoken philosophy there of being intrigued by the mechanics of a watch, regardless of the price; now, not all Timex’s were easy on the wallet, especially the electrics.
Timex Watch Forum
This is the current Timex Forum that Knut Olsen started after Alan N's Vintage Timex Forum was closed.
Vintage Timex Watch Forum
A wealth of archived Timex information.
Bill D's Collection
Bill has a nice collection of Timex Electrics, and interesting early American wristwatches that use pocketwatches movements. Be sure and click on his other photos for a nice collection of Accutrons. Bill has pictures of Timexpo, and is a scholar regarding the history of the Timex. The Timexpo photos include some early prototype watches, including an electronic that is hooked up to a circut board with various chips, intersting; some early clock picutres too.
Andy's Timex Electric Collection
An extensive collection of back set electrics.
Electric-Watches
Paul's quote, " By "electric", I mean they have a battery, either a balance wheel or a tuning fork and either electrical contacts or a transistor. This was a very short-lived transitional phase: transistors were just becoming available and quartz watches had not yet appeared. So there are no mechanical watches (manuals or automatics) on the site and nor are there are quartz watches.Electric watches have really have died out. Quartz is king in the 21st century, but conventional spring-driven manual and automatic mechanical watches are enjoying a revival both at the top end of the market as well as at the bottom end. Not so with the electrics; the last one was probably made in the mid 1970s."
This is a great source for photos of various electric and electronic movements from various watch companies.
Seiko/Citizen Watch Forum
Great forum, eastern watches: Casio, Orient etc. There are posts that include pictures of Omega, Rolex, Sinn, Glycine, and other Swiss Brands. The Swiss make some fine watches; however, consider that Japan makes many quality products: cars, motorcycles, guitars, computers, and radios, et al.
If you have not seen a Grand Seiko, you are in for a treat.
TimeZone Forum
Some of the more elusive, expensive watch brands are discussed on the various forums here.
